Bulldogs Junior Review: Under-14s and Under-10s in action
BRADFORD BULLDOGS’ UNDER-14s continue to battle away in their 2024-25 campaign - but encouraging signs continue to come with each passing game.
Their latest challenge came down at The Pound when they played host to a Leeds Junior Knights’ team who had comfortably beaten them when the two sides met at Elland Road in September.
It was the same tale again in Bradford, Rory Hill leading the way for a talented Leeds team with six goals and two assists, while Christian Roth posted two goals and four assists.
Caiden Mellor fired home two goals, with Lucas Hardacre and Oban Donaldson also getting on the scoresheet in a convincing 12-0 win.
Elsewhere at the weekend, our Under-10s headed to Ice Sheffield for their latest X-ice tournament against hosts Sheffield IHA, as well as regular opponents Sutton Sting IHA and Nottingham.
Their first game of the day produced a cracking 10-3 win over Sutton, Finley Mardell, George Clarke and Robson Bagott leading the way with two goals apiece, with Teddy Holland, Arnie Evans, Henry Martin and Zach Mayoh also getting on the scoresheet.
Next brought up a Bradford ‘All Stars’ team take on a ‘mixed’ group, which saw Bradford edged out 4-3, their goals coming from Clarke (2) and Martin.
It was Martin on the scoresheet again in the next game, scoring twice, while Mardell added to his tally for the day. Sadly, it ended in a 4-3 defeat against hosts Sheffield.
The day concluded with a 3-0 loss to an impressive Nottingham team, with the Bulldogs’ Spirit of the Game award going to Jack Callaghan for his tremendous work-rate through all four games.
Team manager Aimee Clarke said it was a day where all the Bulldogs’ players excelled and impessed with their effort and the increasing skills that they are showing with every passing jamboree.
“Today’s jamboree was an absolute pleasure to watch,” said Aimee. “Every team member played their hearts out. From the defence to the forwards.
“It was an exciting day for all involved, particularly after starting the day with a whopping 10-3 win.
“The players were then able to maintain the speed and agility shown in that game against very good Sheffield and Nottingham teams. It was just an awesome day all round!”
